My life experiences have forged me into a calm and curious person.
I've known much joy in my life. I’ve also, by grace, pulled through intense health issues. It's an honor to be living this creative, curious life.
As a kid I also loved to paint and draw, and I knew in my heart I was an artist. Well, somewhere along the way the artist pieces of me ended up buried deep, though they kept calling to me.
In 2010 I stumbled upon an incredible group of people when, on a whim, I answered a craigslist ad. Together, we worked through "The Artist's Way" book by Julia Cameron.
My first "artist date" involved exploring an art supply store, where I ended up in the painting supplies aisle and fell in love. I came home with my first easel and set of paints.
Through the cold, winter months, I found the courage to fully embrace the Artist again.
WHY I PAINT
Invoking wonder fuels my creativity. I visually translate spirit, calm and wonder into both abstract paintings and paintings depicting spirit beings.
Every piece starts with an intention. I explore with acrylic paint, ink, graphite and oil pastels with a color palette ranging from unique color combinations to solely black and white. Tools include brayers, re-used plastic, scrappers, sand paper and brushes. Surfaces I paint on include canvas, watercolor paper and wood.
When I paint, anything is possible, magic and calm go into each painting.
